Cincinnati also called The Queen City is a major city in the state of Ohio. The city is located near Indiana and is north of the Ohio River. According to the US census, the city is the 27th most populous city in the United States. There are many places to visit while in the city aside from the annual events that it sponsors. The city of Cincinnati was established in the year 1819. Because of its location which is near the Ohio River, it has become an established trading route and later on became a major trade center. It never depended on foreign trading because it was an indoor city and relied heavily on the river trading. In Cincinnati, rainfall is experienced throughout the year with hot and humid summers. July is usually the warmest month while January is the coldest. Aside from the riot in 2001, Cincinnati’s crime rate has dropped steadily. The visibility of police in remote parts of the city as well as having patrols in dark alleys is often credited for lowering the crime rate in the city. There are great universities in the city including the University of Cincinnati and as well various primary and secondary schools. There are many festivals held in the city throughout the year.
Some of the annual festival in the city includes the Cincinnati Flower Show, Oktoberfest and Taste of Cincinnati Festival. By plane, the city is served by the Cincinnati International Airport (CVG). There are other airports in the area but the CVG is the largest. Going to the city is usually by the Amtrak with boarding at the Cincinnati Union Terminal. Because of its location, the city of Cincinnati also operates a river ferry. One of the longest serving ferries is the Anderson Ferry and has become a popular transportation through the river. Aside from these there have been talks to have streetcars implemented in the city but the actual implementation won’t be seen until 2013.
